STEPS
Step 1: Choose your design
Pick the artwork you want to wear, display or collect. Each transfer comes in one standard size, approximately 10 inches wide.
Step 2: Choose your item
transfers are designed for use on cotton and cotton blend garments and other compatible fabrics.
Apparel is just the start: totes, aprons and other compatible fabric items work too. Show us your techniques!
For the classic look, light colored fabrics work especially well with the original black artwork.
Step 3: Prepare your surface
For best results, wash and dry new garments before applying the transfer, and skip the fabric softener.
Lay the garment flat on a firm, heat safe surface.
Preheat the application area briefly to remove wrinkles and moisture before positioning the transfer.
Step 4: Position the transfer
Place the transfer where you want the design to appear.
Before applying heat, make sure the artwork is straight, centered and positioned exactly where you want it.
Line it up carefully, because the first press is the one that counts. Measure twice, press once.
Step 5: Apply the transfer
Standard cotton and cotton blend garments
- Temperature
- 325°F / 163°C
- Application time
- 11 seconds
- Pressure
- Firm pressure, approximately 70 to 90 PSI when using a professional heat press
- Peel
- Hot peel
Heat sensitive fabrics
- Temperature
- 310°F / 154°C
- Application time
- 11 seconds
- Pressure

For the most consistent results, a heat press or mini heat press is recommended.
Step 6: Finish and care
Allow the garment to finish cooling after application before wearing or washing.
To help protect your artwork, turn the garment inside out before washing.
Wash with cold or warm water using a mild detergent.
Choose a gentle, bleach-free wash.
For the longest life, tumble dry on low or hang dry.
Keep the iron off the finished artwork.

QUESTIONS
What size are the transfers?
transfers come in one standard size, approximately 10 inches wide.
Because every piece of artwork is different, the exact height may vary slightly depending on the shape and proportions of the design.
The standard size works well for most adult shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags and other creative projects.
What's the difference between a $10 and a collectible?
The $10 loontoon transfers are approximately 10 inches wide, never sell out, and are made to be used: press them on.
The collectibles are original sandloon designs, 12 inches wide, numbered by hand, with a pressed raised seal over the flag and somewhere within the design. They are sold only at loontoon.com, and sold to be collected, not used.
The OG 50 ($50): 50 of each, in the original sandloon packaging. The Transitional 1/1s ($100): ONLY one per design and mark, on a package hanger. See the Collectors page for the full story.
What color is the artwork?
Every transfer is screen printed in black. The artwork is black; the carrier is clear.
Do I need a heat press, or will a household iron work?
For the best and most consistent results, we recommend using a heat press or mini heat press.
transfers require consistent heat and firm, even pressure across the entire design.
Household iron instructions are still being tested, so we do not currently recommend using a standard household iron for application.
What fabrics can I use?
transfers work best on cotton, cotton polyester blends and other heat tolerant fabrics.
Different materials react differently to heat, so use the lower temperature setting for heat sensitive fabrics and always test specialty materials before applying your transfer.
Can I use on things besides clothing?
Yes! Heat applied with pressure, goes on totes, aprons and other compatible fabric items, too.

Can I keep a transfer as artwork instead of pressing it?
Absolutely.
designs were made to be collected as much as they were made to be worn.
Keep your favorites as artwork, frame them, collect them or save them until you find the perfect piece to put them on.
